Quick introduction; I’m Izzie and I’m an east coast photographer and multi-passionate creative.
I do a bunch of artsy projects including writing, painting, jewelry making, and, of course, photography.
I created to site / blog to start documenting my process going through the Photo Class for 2025 by Focus Point, because I wanted to document my process and thoughts.
My long-term goal is to eventually photograph events and portraits, so I’m making the leap to re-learn photography and get myself back up to speed.
How I Got Started
I first picked up photography seriously in college, where I attended School of Visual Arts with a major in Graphic Design. While SVA didn’t officially have ‘minors’, I decided for myself that digital photography was going to effectively be mine. I took several classes to learn the ins and outs of cameras, with a focus on editorial photography.
I had a really cool opportunity to study under editors for New York Times magazine, where I was able to learn a lot of important concepts in regards to both editorial design as photography.
Working in Publishing

During my final years of college I had an internship with Power & Motor Yacht Magazine which eventually lead to my first job as a junior designer. When our magazine was bought out by a new publisher, I was eventually moved to Boston where I ended up working with the office for Sail, PMY’s sister magazine.
During my time at Sail I really got to flex my photography skills, taking product photos for our gear review section and shooting while out on the water for several stories.
Freelancing through Beantown
I was unfortunately laid off from Sail after two years due to downsizing, but I always made sure to keep up with taking pictures through the years.
I did a few gigs photographing events, portraits, and couples. I also worked as small group trainer for Apple retail, teaching iPhone and iPad users how to take great photos and videos with their personal devices, and how to quickly edit them.
Some of my fondest memories during my time in Boston was going on trips with a group of fellow photographers from work, or walking around Boston metro with my partner and just snapping away with our respective cameras.
